London: We don’t know about you but every once in a while, we stumble upon a tiny lizard scuttering its way across our kitchen, bathroom or even worse, bedroom walls at night. Lizards are hard to get rid off and are swift on their tiny little feet that catching them is near impossible – heck, most of us just shoo them away.
Here are 5 effective ways of getting rid of them and preventing them from coming back:
Eggshells: Lizards are said to hate the smell of eggs, so you might want to strew egg shells around the house or in the kitchen. If you can, try not to wash them before putting them out. Instead, wipe dry and leave them be for a stronger smell.
Coffee powder: Just like cockroaches, lizards hate the strong odour of coffee powder. However, if you’re looking to do more than just deter them from entering your home, you could actually mix coffee and tobacco powder and leave around the house. Tobacco powder is poisonous to lizards.
Garlic: Who knew this humble ingredient could be so useful both in the kitchen and everywhere else around the house. Lizards really hate the smell that the enzymes in garlic emits, so if you’re having a lizard problem in the kitchen, leave some cloves around. Alternatively, make a garlic juice spray and wipe your counters with them.
Onion: Just like garlic, onions are said to be great for keeping lizards at bay. You can also make an onion juice spray and spray your countertops.
Pepper: Lizards really hate the “spicy” odour from pepper, so if you’re hell bent on getting them out of the house, pour some pepper into a porous bag and let the odour deter them. (homeanddecor)
